Our ballet classes offer an enriched environment conducive to learning and our program follows a strict curriculum based on the Vaganova method which benefits and challenges every dancer - no matter what size, shape, ability/experience level, or learning style. At the completion of each level, students receive a certificate of completion from the Academy. Once all eight levels have been completed, students get to participate in a graduation ceremony celebrating their completion of the program.
Beginners, as well as those who have already received prior training, are eligible for the program and will be placed by the Ballet Mistress according to their technique level. Students must master, retain, and improve upon the skills required to progress in order to be promoted to the next level. It is estimated that it will take approximately one year/season to efficiently complete a level, however, some students require more or less time. Advancing depends on the focus, determination, and commitment of each student and requires the approval of the Ballet Mistress.
To be selected for advancement:
Students in the ballet program are required to participate in a written review and perform an exam class with classmates in December and July which allows two chances per year to advance by enabling the Ballet Mistress to properly assess each individual student. Students who show proper understanding and execution of the material will receive their certificate of level completion and advance to the next level.
Summary of Program Benefits:
~ Studying for written assessments and exam classes provides opportunities for students to retain a solid understanding of ballet terminology and technique and develops learning skills that translate to traditional academics.
~ A strong focus placed on proper technique development greatly lowers the risk of injury.
~ Ballet helps students become the best versions of themselves by improving both mental and physical health, strength, coordination, balance, self-esteem, stamina, and self-discipline.
~ Ballet provides an emotional outlet as students learn to express themselves through music and movement.
~ A completed ballet certification program looks excellent on college applications, resumes, and scholarship applications.
